5 Hot Tub Remedies to Relieve Headache Pain

Do you suffer from tension headaches?

Well, the next time you experience a headache, forget the painkillers, and take a soak in your hot tub instead! Whether it’s brought on by stress, tension, restlessness, sinus problems, migraines, lack of sleep or even dehydration, there’s no better place to melt your pain away! Here are five hot tub approaches to muscle pain and headache relief that might surprise you.

10-Minute Hot Tub Soak

A soak in your hot tub will do you a world of good if you’re suffering from a tension headache or a migraine. Try soaking in your hot tub for about 10 minutes, with the powerful water jets stimulating the muscles in your back and neck. This will help relax your muscles and soothe away your headache pain, so you can get back to feeling like yourself again.

Aromatherapy

When you incorporate your sense of smell with the therapeutic effects of your soak, you are in seventh heaven. That’s assuming that scents are not one of your migraine triggers. Add a splash of your favorite aromatherapy spa scent - one that’s specially formulated for use in hot tubs - and let the magic begin!

Our favorite scent is Peppermint, which has a calming and soothing property and can help treat headaches. Eucalyptus and Bergamot are especially excellent for soothing stress and improving your mood.

Chromotherapy

Many wellness centers use chromotherapy, also known as the science of using colors, to enhance natural healing. And so, can you! By combining the warmth of the water from your hot tub with the massage effect of the jets, and a lighting system to enable color changes, you can create the perfect therapeutic experience.

The color purple has relaxing properties that relieve headache and arthritic pain and can also help with detoxification. Check out our Maxxus spa, the flagship model of Sundance® Spas, which comes equipped with seven rotatable LED lighting color options.

Sleep Deprivation

For headaches induced by sleep deprivation, immersing yourself in hot water with a steady temperature (between 102-104° F) should help you sleep deeper and for longer periods.

While in the spa, close your eyes and set your mind adrift. Limit your time to 20 minutes and then cool off before hitting the sack.

Migraine Relief

Stress and changes in sleep habits can contribute to the onset of a migraine, both of which can be addressed by spending more time in your hot tub. For an even greater natural migraine relief, try rubbing a deep heat ointment on your neck and shoulders, 30-minutes after getting out of the hot tub, when your pores have closed. This can help remedy sleeplessness and curb an impending headache.

If you suffer from any of these ailments, please consult with your doctor first. For a better understanding of the benefits of hot tub hydrotherapy, feel free to contact the team at Champagne Spas who’ll be happy to assist you and answer your questions.
